1. Market Highlights
In early November, imported manganese ore transactions were limited in China with downstream consumers only purchasing on demand, and the prices continued to move down. Then in mid-November, suppliers gained confidence with offers for Australian manganese ore staying unchanged; in addition, manganese alloy plants began to make reserves for winter, pulling up the demand, so manganese ore prices rebounded.
Silicomanganese producers generally held large inventory and some suppliers cut offers to relieve stock pressure early this month, while downstream consumers bargained aggressively considering lower manganese ore prices, so the prices for silicomanganese went down sharply. But with manganese ore prices going up late this month, producers began to raise offers to test market due to cost pressure, leading to a slight rise in silicomanganese prices.
In early November, the HC ferromanganese market saw decreased prices affected by high inventory and strong demand for lower prices from downstream consumers. Then from mid-to-late November, market transactions shrank, but suppliers had to maintain offers due to high cost, making prices unchanged till late this month . In the first half month, MC ferromanganese prices also went down sharply as the demand slipped further, but after the middle of the month, mainstream prices didn't change a lot due to few deals, even though suppliers raised offers to test market.
