OVERVIEW
In the first half of 2021, supported by the gradual recovery from domestic and foreign markets and rising coal prices, Chinese magnesium market moved steadily and insiders regained confidence. Nevertheless, Chinese magnesium market experienced a sudden change in Q3. After the peak season for equipment maintenance in July and August, the heavy pressure of Carbon Neutrality and Emission Peak in late September triggered that all magnesium ingot plants in Fugu stopped and the market supply decreased sharply, which caused unprecedented panic attitudes and dramatical price increase. The downstream die casting, 3C and sponge titanium industries faced cost pressure. In Q4, with the relaxation of policies, the supply of magnesium recovered steadily. Meanwhile, under the strong price adjustment of NDRC, the coal prices fell and ferrosilicon prices followed suit. Chinese magnesium ingot prices kept decreasing in October. After November, the magnesium market kept seeking balance with prices up and down.

From 1999 to 2002, the first magnesium alloy extrusion line (630tpy) and the first magnesium semi-continuous casting line was completed under the leadership of him, which contributed 1/3 of the total magnesium alloy exports of China and promoted the rapid development of the magnesium alloy industry. In 2009, the launch of the third wheel forging line in China also laid a foundation for the application of magnesium alloy in the wheel market.
  • Now he is mainly studying the development of new magnesium alloy materials and deep processing follow-up technique, making great contribution to the technical breakthrough of magnesium alloy application and industry expansion. He has published more than 30 related papers, and participated in the publication of more than 20 patents and 10 national and industry standards. He won many awards in the magnesium alloy industry and won the first science and technology prize issued by Chinese Nonferrous Metals Industry in 2019.

Shanxi Fuhengdi Metal Materials Co., Ltd., formerly known as Wenxi County Shengfu Magnesium Powder Factory, was established in November 2007 and is located in Xidu Village, Yangyu Township, Wenxi County, Shanxi Province. Fuhengdi, with independent management and import&export rights, has become a professional magnesium powder producer with large production scale and wide varieties. With an annual production capacity of 15,000t for magnesium powder products, including magnesium powder, magnesium granule, magnesium chips and passivated magnesium granule, Fuhengdi produced about 9,800t of the metal in 2021. In domestic market, Fuhengdi mainly sells the related material to steel mills such as Taiyuan Steel, Handan Steel, Tangshan Steel, Wuhan Steel, and also to many pharmaceutical companies. The company also exports the material to many foreign countries, such as Japan, Canada, Netherlands, etc. They achieved the annual sales for RMB220 million and the foreign income around USD5 million in 2021. At present, there are 40 employees in Fuhengdi, including full-time safety management personnel, sales personnel, office personnel and other positions, as well as various workshops such as cutting workshops, granulation workshops, and screening workshops.
