OVERVIEW
The unexpectable COVID-19 attacked the global rare earth market at the beginning of 2020. The Chinese rare earth industry, including separation plants, smelters, NdFeB magnet, catalyst and polishing powder factories, reduced or suspended production in the first quarter of 2020. Since the second quarter, Chinese rare earth industry kept recovering and already resumed to （normal）the normal situation in the second half year. However, the competition among rare earth metal producers and NdFeB magnet manufacturers escalated due to the continuously increasing production capacities.
The overseas rare earth industry also endured ordeal in 2020. Under the sluggish global economy caused by COVID-19, the development of international rare earth projects slowed down. Biolantanidos - Rodrigo Ceballos is an industrial engineer with a major in Mining, with an MBA degree from the University of Cambridge, UK. He has 20 years’ experience in metals and chemical business, in strategy, finance and commercial corporate positions. He spent around 13 years working for Molymet, the world’s largest processor of Molybdenum and Rhenium, with operations in Chile, Belgium, Mexico, Germany and China. Then 5 years in Mathiesen Corp, a multinational trader and distributor of chemicals, tighly related to mining in South America. In addition, in 2011 and 2012, he was involved in Molycorp, as Molymet invested in the company, being a relevant shareholder. Since early 2020, he worked as CEO of Biolantanidos, after the company was acquired by Hochschild Mining Plc., (LSX HOC). Biolantánidos owns a heavy rare earth ionic clays deposit, located in Penco, Chile. The company is expected to be in full production in H1 2023.

Chris joined Lynas in April 2021 and brings over 25 years of experience in strategy, sales and marketing and consulting roles across industrial, technology, telecommunications and media organisations in Australia, Asia and Europe.

Set up Petroleum University Zhuoyue Technology Company in 1998 and Qingdao Shida Zhuoyue Technology Co., Ltd. in 2001. Formally left China University of Petroleum in 2011. Jointly built up Rezel Catalysts Corporation with Leshan Shenghe Rare Earth Co. in 2010. Mainly study catalysts and petrochemical technology. Published 45 papers home and abroad and got over 30 granted patents with most patents realizing industrialization. Good at industrialization of research results.

MCC Ruimu New Energy Science and Technology Co. - Graduated from Department of Metallurgy of Central South University in July 1993, Su Hua worked for Hunan Rare Earth Material Research Institute and was engaged in rare earth production and technical work from 1993 to October 2018, successively serving as technician, research director, assistant manager and other roles. Since October 2018, Su works in MCC Ruimu New Energy Science and Technology Co., Ltd. and acts as the Deputy Chief Engineer at present.

Xiamen Tungsten Co. - Graduated from Central South University as a Master of Metallurgical Engineering, Liu Hongzhou is a member of Xiamen Tungsten hydrogen storage technical expert committee. Joined Xiamen Tungsten Co. in 2007, Liu successively served as technician of hydrogen storage manufacturing department, assistant engineer, engineer and project director of Hydrogen Storage Research, Production and Sales Center, and led and participated in a number of Ni-MH battery anode hydrogen storage alloys research and industrialization projects, including rare earth new hydrogen storage materials key preparation technology and application development (one of national 863 projects), 1,000-ton-per-annum power battery rare earth energy storage materials industrialization, high-performance rare earth magnesium-base hydrogen storage materials preparation and application, development and industrialization of one rare earth cobalt-free long-life hydrogen storage alloy and other projects.

Longnan Longyi Rare Earth Materials Co. - Yang Qing, a member of the Communist Party of China and a professor-level senior engineer, is Chairman of Longnan Longyi Rare Earth Materials Co., director of Jiangxi Heavy Rare Earth Metallurgical Industry Additive Engineering Technology Research Center, and executive vice chairman of Rare Earth Alloy Branch of China Rare Earth Industry Association. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Gannan Normal University, a master tutor at Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, and an expert in the evaluation of scientific and technological projects in Jiangxi, Shandong, Hebei, Anwei and Hunan. He has been engaged in the research and development of rare earth metallurgy and the application of rare earth in iron and steel materials and non-ferrous alloys for more than 30 years. He has accumulated rich experience, developed various kinds of dozens of new products, and presided over more than ten national-level projects. He also formulated five national standards, got five authorized invention patents, won two provincial science and technology progress awards, and published more than ten academic papers in national journals.
