OVERVIEW
During the fourth quarter of 2017, the Chinese magnesium industry experienced shutdown, restructuring and adjustments. In 2018, market conditions were also unfavorable as Chinese magnesium plants had to comply with highly strict requirements on its environmental performance and accordingly magnesium producers have been experiencing great difficulty in trying to resume production. The magnesium market turned around from supply surplus in previous years to supply shortage, leading to magnesium prices going up all the way. 2018 is also a year when market players in the magnesium market feel both pleasure and worry, as producers enjoy juicy profits but also shoulder environmental pressures, end-users had to afford high production costs but also were able to maintain stable operation, and traders struggled ahead but also enjoy benefits resulting from rising USD-RMB exchange rate.

Owning dozens of inventions and patents, Cao Jianyong works as a member of national nonferrous metal standards committee at present.

Under his guidance, Chongqing Bo'ao became the largest magnesium processer in China and set up the best R&D team, totally producing 23 million magnesium alloy casting pieces. He was also in charge of 50,000m2 plant construction of Chongqing Bo'ao and Chongqing Shengmei, including a magnesium alloy production line with an annual production capacity of 10,000t, a magnesium alloy casting production line with an annual production capacity of 8 million pieces, a magnesium alloy extruding production line with an annual production capacity of 2,000t and a magnesium alloy plate production line with an annual production capacity of 6 million pieces, which brought the best magnesium alloy deep-processing industry of China to Chongqing.
